My name is Alexandra and I am a dancer, choreographer, and ESL & EFL teacher. I received my Master’s in International Affairs and my Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the New School in 2016. I have a background in community service and arts administration, and last summer, I worked with the Mayor’s office of a small town in Colombia to ease the housing transition of local residents who had recently won a lottery to live in a new housing development. The apartments were built as part of a national policy designed to address a housing shortage for low-income citizens in Colombia. I learned a great deal about community development and the implementation of community projects in Colombia, and that experience sparked my interest in working in Colombia. I am now serving as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at the Universidad Colegio Mayor Cundinamarca in Bogota, Colombia for the 2016-2017 academic year.

I hope to use this blog to update my friends and family on my experiences in Bogota, Colombia and to help future Fulbright applicants and/or grantees to learn more about what it’s like to be a Fulbright ETA in Colombia.

Thanks for reading!
